What to expect

What support can you expect as a volunteer with Connection Support?

We want to make getting involved as a volunteer with us as easy as possible, so we’ve outlined the five main steps you’ll go through below. We’ve just streamlined our processes, and in a recent survey, 93% of respondents said the application process was straightforward.

1. Take a look at our volunteering opportunities

We have a host of volunteer opportunities across Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Milton Keynes to suit different time commitments, interests and experiences. Some require specific skills, some a longer-term commitment and others you can do on an occasional basis. Each opportunity has a description so you see what the role requires. We may not be currently recruiting for certain roles, but if you register with us, we can keep you updated when opportunities become available.

2. Register your interest to find out more

Fill in our contact form below and your local Volunteer Coordinator will be in touch to chat through the role you have identified, or find a role based on your skills, interests, location and availability.

3. Apply to become a volunteer

Once you’ve decided which role/s you’re interested in, we will ask you to fill in an application form. You may also be required to attend an informal interview (in person or virtually) to make sure the role is the right fit, and to ensure you enjoy your volunteer experience with us. We also require two references, but you won’t have to do this until after the interview.

4. Welcome, induction & support

Once you’ve been successful in your volunteer application we will welcome you as part of our valued volunteer community and provide a full induction to your role. Some roles will have specific training requirements before you start, and others may require ongoing training opportunities. You will receive ongoing support throughout your time as a volunteer.

5. Being part of the team

We’ll make sure you have plenty of opportunities to meet and get to know other volunteers and members of the team at social occasions, training and networking meetings, and volunteer-specific meet-ups. You’ll receive regular supervision and check-ins from your appointed contact within the team you are supporting, which may be the Team Manager or your Volunteer Coordinator. We’ll also ensure you are up to date with what’s happening across the wider Connection Support community through newsletter updates, and access to our organisation’s intranet.
