My experience with Connection Support has been a very positive one. At a time when I was coming out of homelessness due to domestic violence, I had a lot of uncertainty about how to move forward. I was adjusting to a new home, taking on responsibilities I hadn’t managed alone for some time, and trying to regain my independence. Having a dedicated support worker from Connection Support made that transition much easier and far less overwhelming.
From the start, my support worker, Kate, was approachable, reliable, and genuinely interested in helping me. I never felt rushed or dismissed; instead, she took the time to listen and understand my situation. That personal approach meant a great deal to me. It wasn’t just about providing a service – it was about offering support that truly fit my circumstances.
One of the most valuable areas of help was with the practical side of setting up my home. Tasks like organising bills and utilities, which might seem straightforward to some, felt daunting at the time. Kate guided me through each step, explained things clearly, and made sure I understood how to manage them myself. Having that guidance not only eased the pressure in the moment but also gave me the skills and confidence to handle these responsibilities independently in the future.
What also stood out was her consistency and attentiveness. Whenever I had a question or needed advice, she was available and quick to respond. Knowing that I had someone I could rely on during that period gave me a sense of reassurance and stability. It meant I could focus on building my new life without constantly feeling like I was facing things alone.
Beyond the practical support, Kate encouraged me to make decisions for myself and to take the lead whenever possible. That approach gradually helped me rebuild my confidence in my independence. It wasn’t about doing everything for me, but about guiding me so that I could stand on my own again.
Connection Support, and Kate, provided me with the tools, knowledge, and encouragement I needed at a very challenging time. The help I received was not only professional but also genuinely thoughtful, and that combination made a lasting difference.
I am very grateful for the role Connection Support played in helping me transition from homelessness to independence. My experience shows how effective their support can be, both in practical terms and in helping people regain the confidence to move forward on their own.
