Whether it’s due to homelessness or poor mental health, the number of people experiencing a crisis is on the rise. Connection Support believes in a future where people are free from crisis. But for the times when crises do happen, we’ll be there to help every step of the way.
Does this sound like something you want to be a part of?
We are currently recruiting for a Drop in Coordinator to join our Beacon Drop in centre in Banbury.
The impact you will have
The Banbury Beacon is a long established and valued drop-in for homeless and other isolated people to attend where they can have a hot drink, some food and meet with others in a non-judgemental and welcoming space.
The drop-in coordinator is responsible for ensuring sessions run smoothly as scheduled each week and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming to both visitors and volunteers.
You will ensure there are sufficient supplies of food, drink and other essentials, manage donations, and work closely with St Mary’s, and the centre administrators to maintain the ethos of the centre.
There is also responsibility for day-to-day management of the volunteers who attend the sessions and support to ensure an environment in which volunteers want to give their time and feel valued.
The aim is to ensure this service is available for all those who need it and provide opportunities for them to find solutions to some of the challenges they face.
This is a permanent role, working 15 hours a week, across 4 weekday mornings.
Salary: £24,397 – £26,649 per annum, pro rata, dependent on experience. The salary shown is the full time equivalent, if you would like to know the pro-rata salary please get in touch.
The closing date is Friday 13th December. Interviews will be confirmed on successful application.
About you
You don’t mind getting stuck in to help out with whatever is needed each day including helping in the kitchen if needed. You also understand the importance of making the centre as warm and welcoming as possible.
You will have experience of working or volunteering with vulnerable or isolated individuals and supporting volunteers. It would be great if you had some knowledge of the benefits or housing processes or can sign post people to appropriate support services.
People might say that you’re a good listener, supportive, willing to go that extra mile or something similar. A long as your happy to listen and support people to access the services they need, then this could be the role for you.
