At Connection Support, our team of 200 staff members and 150 volunteers work alongside people to overcome life’s challenges, with the goals of solving homelessness and achieving independence.

We have an exciting new service in Aylesbury that provides short-term supported accommodation to people who are either homeless or at risk of homelessness. We are currently recruiting for Support Workers to join our team.

About the role.

Working as part of a team you will support young people (16-25) and adults who are housed in our short-term supported accommodation service to access services and resources that will allow them to move onto sustainable independent accommodation.

Working alongside the clients you will provide support to access housing options, benefits, tenancy related information, paid employment, training, food banks, mental health, substance misuse services, or any other relevant resource that will enable your clients to live independently. In addition, you will support with developing life skills such as budgeting, paying bills, shopping and meal planning.

You will also encourage connecting and building appropriate networks within the local community, and, where possible, re-establish and reconnect with family and friends.

This post is fixed term until 30th August 2025, based in Aylesbury.

We have full and part time hours available, working between 18.75 to 37.5 hours per week.

This service is 24 hour supported accommodation, covering Monday – Sunday, therefore you will be required to work every other weekend. We have day shifts 08.00 – 15.30, and/or evening shifts 15.30 – 23.00 plus a sleep in 23.00 – 08.00.

Salary £22,675 to £25,380 per annum, pro rata dependent on experience. This salary is subject to an increase in April 24. Sleeps ins are paid at £45 per night.

Closing date: Monday 26th February at 10.00am. Interviews will take place on Friday 1st & Monday 4th March.

About you.

You’re an excellent communicator who finds it easy to build connections with a diverse range of people. You understand that each person is different, so a flexible individualised approach is what’s needed to motivate and encourage people.

You will need to have experience of working in social care, homelessness services, housing, mental health, substance misuse or similar, Ideally, you will have a good understanding of the housing and benefits system. You have a strong resilience to not give up and can work creatively to find solutions.

Above all, you have a natural ability to help make the lives of others more fulfilling, and are passionate about our mission, vision and values.
