BECOME A PEER MENTOR:

Could you use your experience to help others change their lives for the better? Peer Mentoring could be just the right opportunity for you to help others once you have come to the end of your own support.

WHAT IS A PEER MENTOR?

A Peer Mentor is a volunteer who has experienced similar challenges and experiences as the people that they are supporting

  • Peers can relate in a unique and special way, showing people that recovery is possible and can happen.
  • Peers who take on peer support roles can feel empowered, have a greater confidence and a more positive sense of identity.
  • Being a peer mentor is seen as a positive and secure way to progress towards education, work, or employment

WHAT DO PEER MENTORS DO?

  • You’ll have regular one to one meetings over a defined time period with someone who is currently using the services of Connection Support
  • You’ll act as a positive role model, providing support, listening in a non-judgemental way
  • Support your mentee on their journey by demonstrating that recovery is possible
