Our Stepdown Housing Service provides short term support for patients who are being discharged from hospital and lack suitable accommodation to continue their recovery.

We are recruiting for an inspirational support worker, who understands what it takes to support vulnerable people who are homeless or vulnerably housed, unemployed, often with a history of substance misuse, mental health issues or an offending history.

What you will be doing,

Working within our Stepdown Housing service you will provide support to help people gain suitable accommodation, return to their own properties, and prevent homeless people returning to rough sleeping. You will support to appointments and build resilience, skills, and knowledge so individuals can maintain their tenancy or secure new housing.

Signposting and Supporting people to access other services will be a key part of this role, this can include ensuring clients are financially secure, supporting to access welfare benefits, facilitating client’s integration within their local community, or supporting to access mental health or addiction services.

Your passion about supporting people to develop and maintain their independence, dignity, and control alongside your ability to research local resources is what drives you to achieve sustainable yet empowering outcomes for the individuals we support.

People orientated, you’re an excellent communicator who enjoys building connections with a diverse range of people. Ideally you will have experience within housing/benefits advice or support, however this is not essential as we will provide training, however we do need you to have some experience within an adult social care setting.
