I went to see Charlie the other day. She is a completely different person. She’s been sober for well over a year now. Looks good – the flat is immaculate, single and happy. Fighting at court to access to 9-year-old daughter as well. Her immediate family still have substance issues, but she has removed herself from the environment, albeit she visits them on a regular basis. I remember referring her to you about 2 years ago, if it wasn’t for the work you did with her, and the support and assistance, I know that she would be spiralling out of control. She literally can’t stand being around people who drink and take drugs. I just want to and also on behalf of Charlie, as well who asked me to pass on her thanks to you, make you aware of the success story and that you have changed her life for the better. Hope to see you soon.
I recently conducted a joint home visit with Jo and just wanted to give some feedback. Jo was able to work with an avoidant service user with patience, persistence and compassion. The family were on the verge of facing homelessness due to significant rent arrears. Jo was able to secure a discretionary payment which reduced the amount outstanding, she worked with the family to address outstanding essential bills e.g. water and electricity. The family were grateful that Jo helped them to clear their debts. I was also impressed by Joanne’s professionalism. It’s great to know that Floating Support is still around.
