At Connection Support, our team of 200 staff members and 150 volunteers work alongside people to overcome life’s challenges, with the goals of solving homelessness and achieving independence.

About the role.

Working within the community, as part of a wider team led by Oxford City Council, you will support people who are experiencing mental health challenges to address their housing issues to avoid homelessness and readmission to hospital.

Providing assertive outreach support, you will support people to increase their confidence, develop routines, build skills and plan for their future. This may include accessing support for accommodation, debt, physical and mental health treatments, substance misuse, engaging in activities, building networks, and maintaining contact with friends and family.

This post is permanent, working 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday.

Salary £26,649 – £30,396 per annum, dependent on experience.

About you

You have professional experience of working with people who have experienced mental health issues, or mental health crisis. You should have knowledge of mental health conditions and the impact these can have on daily life.

Your experience should also include supporting people to resettle into their homes, including managing utilities and rent accounts, ensuring people have furniture, accessing benefits, linking in with community networks and statutory services.

Your ability to build effective working relationships with a diverse range of people, and your excellent active listening skills enable you to have a strong understanding of the different needs of people who may be suffering from a variety of conditions. You have a strong resilience to not give up and can work creatively to find solutions.

Due to the nature of the role, you will need a current driver’s licence and access to a vehicle.
