Thrive

About the service

The Thrive initiative provides support to families in specific areas in Aylesbury & High Wycombe.

It’s delivered by a team of Family Liaison Workers, supported by volunteer parenting mentors, peer mentors and family advocates, to work alongside families, supporting, encouraging and empowering the family to build their skills, confidence and parental wellbeing to create a stable positive environment for their children.

Thrive provides support, motivation, encouragement and advice to parents to take steps towards creating a more stable and positive environment in which their children can thrive.

Who is this service for?

This initiative is for parents/carers living in specific areas of Aylesbury & High Wycombe.

Referrals for Thrive are made mainly through local schools, but we can also accept referrals from within the community, as well as self-referrals.

What can I expect from the Service?

We offer a tailored programme of support to each family, based on listening to their social, emotional, educational and health needs which would include, but would not be limited to, substance dependency, domestic violence, learning difficulties, social exclusion, and lack of parenting skills.

Thrive’s aim is that, following the family’s engagement with support, children will:

Experience more effective parenting.
Have a safer and more stimulating home environment.
Have their needs identified and appropriately met by their parents/carers.
Be supported to thrive by their families and communities.
Become resilient, engaged and able to thrive.
Be less likely to require intervention from formal services.

We will offer you a service that is

Non-judgmental – we’re there to provide practical support and a listening ear. They want to see you thrive as a parent and achieve your goals. Flexible, as to where they will meet – in your home or at an agreed family-friendly place e.g. community café or play centre.
